PAGO PAGO, American Samoa — The American Samoa Government launched a coordinated response to provide urgent relief to the residents of Aunu’u, who have been stranded due to recent disruptions in boat services between Aunu’u and Auasi on Saturday September 06, 2025.

With vessel operations currently out of commission, families in Aunu’u are experiencing significant challenges. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, ASG took swift action to ensure critical support was delivered.

Relief assistance was provided through the Aunu’u Liaison, working in close partnership with the Department of Search and Rescue (DSAR), the Office of Homeland Security, the Department of Health, and the Governor’s Office.

In addition to immediate aid, government agencies are engaged in strategic planning to implement effective measures that address both the current challenges and the long-term sustainability of transportation and essential services for Aunu’u residents.

The American Samoa Government extends its deepest gratitude and fa’afetai tele lava to all agencies and personnel who have dedicated their time and resources to today’s efforts. Most importantly, thoughts and prayers remain with the people of Aunu’u during this difficult time.
