The summit opened with an invocation delivered by Reverend Elder Fouvale Asiata, reminding us all that it is our duty and responsibility from God to provide the best education for our children. Held under the theme “Ia Fau le Fale i Pou e Tele – Build the House With Many Posts,” the gathering emphasized collective responsibility and collaboration in building a strong education system.

ASDOE Director Maefau Dr. Mary Taufete‘e expressed her heartfelt appreciation to stakeholders across government, faith-based organizations, and the private sector for their ongoing contributions to education. She highlighted that everyone plays a role in teaching and shaping children’s learning formally and informally, outlining the importance of working together to build a solid educational foundation for today, tomorrow, and future generations.

Governor Pulaali‘i Nikolao Pula delivered special remarks, thanking ASDOE for convening the summit and for uniting the many entities that support the education sector. He emphasized the central role of education, stating, “Education is the most important thing we need to focus on, as this profession teaches and makes other professions.” The Governor also shared a personal reflection on his father’s humble beginnings, despite limited formal education, his father went on to become the first Director of Education for American Samoa, demonstrating that education, paired with the right attitude, can open doors and shape destinies.
