American Samoa Nurses Association Kicks off National Nurses Week with Opening Church Service
VAILOA, American Samoa - The American Samoa Nurses Association proudly held its annual Nurses Week Church Service yesterday at 3:00 p.m. at the CCCAS Vailoa, gathering government leaders, community members, families, and most importantly, the nurses of American Samoa. This year’s theme, “The Power of Nurses,” celebrates the strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication that define the nursing profession across the territory
Acting Governor Hon. Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr., Senate President Tuaolo Fruean, and House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale joined the congregation in honoring the service and heartwork of our wonderful nurses. The service was led by Reverend Alama Solofa.
The American Samoa Nurses Association President Toaga Seumalo opened the program with welcoming remarks, expressing gratitude for the unity and support shown by leaders and the community. The CCCAS Vailoa Choir offered powerful hymns that enriched the service, while select nurses participated through scripture readings. Nurses Elaine Maulupe, Victoria Felise, and Theresa Maae Sootaga delivered heartfelt prayers on behalf of the profession.
American Samoa Nurses Association Vice President Margaret Sesepasara introduced the special guest speaker, Acting Governor Hon. Pulumataala Ae Ae Jr., who delivered an inspiring message acknowledging the extraordinary service nurses provide to the people of American Samoa. He encouraged nurses to continue their essential work and reaffirmed the commitment of government leaders to collaborate in strengthening healthcare across the territory.
Reverend Solofa followed with a powerful sermon centered on nurture, service, and the spiritual calling of caregiving, encouraging all in attendance of the profound impact nurses have on the well-being of the community
The program continued with the official reading of the Nurses Week Proclamation, by Nita Misi, recognizing the weeklong celebration of the profession. A special musical presentation by the wonderful nurses concluded the service, leaving the congregation with a renewed sense of appreciation and unity. Happy Nurses Week American Samoa!
